The institute was inaugurated in 1996 and is conveniently and centrally located in downtown, FMI Center. Since commencement, the school has always upheld its principles, professionalism and integrity contributing for the benefit of the local community. For many years, the name of Stamford-City Business Institute has been associated with high quality management and business training in Yangon and around Myanmar.

Students range from young adults willing to learn and work hard towards a better career and improved lifestyle, trying to improve their language skills before going abroad, or just learning something new to become a better person or a better professional to staff from companies and embassies who attend corporate evening language courses or weekend business seminars.

The school is headed by Dr. Guenther E. Wolf as Principal, assisted by Suzanne Pun, the Senior Training Consultant and a team of 27 qualified full-time local and expatriate teachers as well as many part-time teachers. The school offers a wide variety of courses and continually strives to increase the variety of its teachings.
